Movie Clapper. Now I know there purpose

I just recently listed to a podcast and it was explaining what a movie clapper is and it's purpose. You know what I'm talking about... one of those pieces of slate that has the hinged bar on top that is "clapped" together at the beginning of a scene. Well, it's purpose is for editing. I guess when a movie is filmed, the video and audio are filmed separately. When the video is edited, the clapper is used to sync the video and audio. Basically the video editor syncs up the sound of the clapper with the video of the clapper closing. Makes since... just never knew it's real purpose.

Check out the attached link for more info on this.

Hello,
Nice blog i like it
A clapboard is a device used in motion picture and videotape production to assist in the synchronizing of picture and sound, and to designate and mark particular scenes and takes recorded during a production.
