A Good Explaination of Socialism

I found a blog posting over at Commonsense4Dummies that gives a great explanation of Socialism. It seems that our nation is going down a path to Socialism and see no way of stopping. We've got so many government programs to provide safety nets for people and businesses. Just look at the current bail outs... financial institutions to auto makers. These are private businesses in a free market. When you are a member of the free market you should be allowed to succeed as well as be allowed to fail. That's the free market. We should not take money from people and businesses that are producing and give to those who are running their business into the ground. Government should not be coming to me with a gun and taking my money in the form of taxes and fees and give to those who choose to do nothing. Once that person get's a taste of my money do you think they will ever want to "make it on their own"? Government's role should be to protect us from those who want to harm us and get their hand out of everything else.

Freedom doesn't equal safety. Freedom equals freedom and safety equals socialism.
